Aaron Johnson, 51, is facing charges following a strange scene that played out Monday early on Monday morning after he struck a woman with a rock and entered a standoff with members of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers from the agency were called at around 8 a.m. on March 11 to the 2800 block of Q Street SE, where a woman advised them that she had been struck by a rock during an argument with Johnson.

They attempted to make contact with the man inside a home, at which point Johnson allegedly made threats to the officers and refused to open the door. A barricade was then declared.

Members of the department's Emergency Response Team were called to the residence, and were able to take Johnson into custody without further incident. The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

According to a DC Fire and EMS Arson Investigator also responded to the scene and determined that Johnson had attempted to start a fire with a heat source while inside of the residence.

The Southeast DC resident was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (rock), threats, and malicious burning.
